Medicare Plans Explained
Navigating Medicare doesn't have to be complicated. We break down every plan type so you can make a confident, informed decision — with a licensed advisor by your side.
Finding the Right Fit for You
Medicare comes in several forms, and the right choice depends on your health needs, budget, and preferred doctors. As independent advisors, we represent nationally known carriers and compare all available options across Maryland to find what works best for you — at no cost.

Original Medicare
The federal health insurance program administered by the government, covering hospital stays and medical services.
Original Medicare is the foundation of Medicare coverage. Part A covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility stays, hospice, and some home health care. Part B covers outpatient services, doctor visits, preventive care, and medically necessary services. Most people pay no premium for Part A if they've worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years.
Key Features
- Part A: Hospital, skilled nursing, hospice
- Part B: Doctor visits, outpatient care
- Accepted by most providers nationwide
- No network restrictions — see any Medicare-approved doctor
Medicare Advantage
An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare, offered by private insurers and often including extra benefits.
Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) bundle Part A, Part B, and usually Part D drug coverage into a single plan. Many plans include extras like dental, vision, hearing, and fitness benefits not covered by Original Medicare. We represent nationally known carriers and can compare the plans available in your area to find the right fit.
Key Features
- Combines Parts A, B, and often D
- May include dental, vision, and hearing
- Often $0 or low monthly premiums
- Plans vary by county — local expertise matters
Medicare Supplement
Supplemental coverage that fills the gaps in Original Medicare, covering copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.
Medicare Supplement plans (also called Medigap) work alongside Original Medicare to cover out-of-pocket costs like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. There are standardized plan types so benefits are identical across carriers — meaning price and carrier reputation are the key differentiators. We represent nationally known carriers and help you find the best rate for the coverage you need.
Key Features
- Covers Medicare cost-sharing gaps
- Standardized plans — same benefits, different prices
- Freedom to see any Medicare-accepting provider
- Predictable out-of-pocket costs
Prescription Drug Plans
Standalone drug coverage that pairs with Original Medicare or a Medigap plan to help pay for prescription medications.
Part D Prescription Drug Plans are offered by private insurers approved by Medicare. Each plan has a formulary — a list of covered drugs — and costs vary based on the medications you take. We represent nationally known carriers and review your current medications to find the plan with the lowest total cost for your specific needs.
Key Features
- Covers brand-name and generic drugs
- Plans vary by formulary and cost
- Annual enrollment window — timing matters
- We match plans to your specific medications
